Christmas Advent Calendars
As is so for many of our Christmas traditions, we trace the origin of
Advent calendars to Germany in the 19th century. Children drew chalk
lines or hung pictures to mark the days in anticipation of Christmas.
The printing of Advent calendars on cardboard soon followed, with the
calendars including 24 "windows" to open in the days before Christmas.
Opening one window each day in December through Christmas Eve, children
delight in revealing the pictures behind the windows. We offer many designs based on this original concept, and still import many Advent
calendars from Germany.
Advent calendars now often
feature chocolates behind the windows or three dimensional designs for
table top display. We offer Advent calendars with those popular
features and many more.
Advent calendars heighten the anticipation as children prepare for
Christmas and also create fond memories for loved ones to cherish
through the years. Many families have been enjoying this annual
tradition for generations, and many more are just beginning.
Great to use in your home, school or office Christmas decor!
